Future of Florida Virtual Seminar Series

Since 2005, the Future Is Now Foundation has been a leader in designing and hosting far-reaching online events on a range of topics important for Florida’s future. We now are pleased to present the Future of Florida Virtual Seminar Series.

The series will kick-off with a focus on the public sector, including two major agencies of State government that play a vital role in shaping Florida’s future:

- the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and the

- Florida Department of Transportation (DOT).

The DEO is a new agency of the State comprised of the former Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Agency for Workforce Innovation and other executive branch offices and functions.

Webinars will be held in May and June 2012 with each of these agencies. “Support for Florida’s Communities” is an overarching theme for the events, with a focus on information, insights and resources that will help communities in addressing local needs, now and for the future.

The audience includes cities, counties, regional planning councils, water management districts, metropolitan planning organizations, private sector planners, economic development agencies and interests, workforce developers, housing and development professionals, nonprofit associations, community organizations and others.

Attendance Policy
Our policy has always been that events with a registration fee are on a per-person basis ... comparable to a per person on-site event registration fee or paying for a ticket to go to a movie. We're taking the risk to pay for our staff and expenses for events like these where we have no other funding source. Charging a low fee, as for the above events, increases the risk. We understand that budgets are tight for many local governments, and others, and where that is the case we will not object if two or three staff members from a single organization attend from the same computer. At the same time, we ask for observance of the honor system as well as understanding that we cannot continue organizing and hosting professional development events like these without adequate registration fees.

Replays
We will be recording the events and, barring technical difficulties, anticipate making them available as on-demand replays for registrants unable to attend live ... and others who sign-up after the live events. Registration and password will be required to access the videos. Please also see Attendance Policy section above.

Note: The DOT event video requires conversion, and will be available next week. Slides are now available and registrants have been notified.
