Informing & Inspiring Youth for a Brighter Future

The Youth Leadership Academy is a one-of-a-kind initiative to support and advance youth. It is geared to young people of college age (undergraduate and graduate) as well as high school. It is designed to influence the future of youth and, thereby, the future of the planet.

The Academy knows that youth:

• Are the nation’s future
• Have enormous potential for good
• Need support for positive development
• Are adept at learning via technology

Our focus is on being a catalyst for good. We do so through a unique combination of:

Education I Empowerment I Resources I Action

There are many learning institutions and other resources available for youth education. It is not our intent to replicate these but, rather, to fill a void in supporting young people, their future development and their role in society.

Of particular focus for work of the Academy are:

• Mission – Developing a clear sense of life purpose, whatever it is for them
• Avocation – Helping youth find their passion in choosing their path of career or work.
• Character – A framework for understanding and shaping ones values, ethics, work ethic.
• Standards – Helping youth understand their current standards and set the bar high for their future pursuits in life.
• Service – Being contributing members of society, through volunteerism, education, action.
• Empowerment – Cultivating self confidence, motivation, can-do attitude and follow-through.
• Success Skills – Equipping youth with skills integral to their ultimate success.

Innovative Tools, Access

Today’s youth are predisposed to learning through technology. So we’re bringing our programs and services to them in ways that best meet their needs … through a combination of Webcasts, Webinars, Teleseminars (by phone), Podcasts, Blogs and on-line radio. These include downloadable programs for listening via iPod, mp3 or CD players. Plus other exceptional on-line resources that can be tapped for still further learning. And a unique e-mentoring service.

This powerful combination provides for the broadest access ("from wherever you are") and maximum convenience ("whenever you want").

Programs, Services

Modeled in part after our successful Distinguished Leaders Series, the Academy includes programs featuring leaders and experts from varied walks of life with a special message of benefit to youth. Individuals whose information, experience, track record, skills and conduct serve as a means of education and inspiration for youth. Individuals who serve as mentors and models from whom youth can greatly benefit. Individuals who will positively impact the lives of youth participants. It also includes insights from "everyday people"  from whom youth can learn valuable lessons and know-how. Plus access to other resources aimed at supporting young people. 

Getting Started

Several first steps are:

1. Attend our Webcast event series for Social Responsibility Day featuring state and national nonprofit leaders on how we can all make a difference each and everyday ... and invite others to join you in the process. See "Make a Difference" tab at left.

2. Our Distinguished Leaders Series features interviews with state and national leaders of interest and importance for a broad audience.  Outstanding  guests from diverse backgrounds – entrepreneurs, business leaders, non-profit heads, authors, educators, government officials, celebrities, and many others -- are being featured as part of the interviews segment of the Academy.  Youth and others will benefit from their information and perspectives.
